Review: Pilgrims Progress -Journey To Heaven!

I just recently watched the new movie “Pilgrims Progress: Journey to Heaven” based on John Bunyan’s classic novel. I must say that it was worth the time! It has a modern adaptation to fit the times but stays true to the classic in content. It convicted me (once again) to get back on the narrow path (Matthew 7:13,14) and not get distracted by “Worldly Wise” or the many other traps that keep us from reaching the “Celestial City”.

Family Friendly: YES (my boys loved it)

Content: 5 stars (just like the classic)

Special effects: 3 stars (Wasn’t like a Star Wars movie, but it wasn’t bad either)

A must see for the whole family!

The Debate and Missed Opportunities

Last night’s Presidential debate reminded me why I’m not a McCain fan. In my opinion, McCain missed some easy slam dunks.

For example, when Obama said that he would not have gone into Iraq in the first place; McCain should have used his time and said something like “My fellow Americans… Obama just told all the dictators of the world that when the United States speaks, It’s word is meaningless, and when countries shoot at our planes, that… it’s no big deal (remember that Iraq shoot at our planes over ten times in the no fly zone), and that 18 U.N. resolutions mean nothing… maybe we should try 20 more. Senator Obama does not understand the history of pre war Iraq, and he is willing to error on the side of not doing anything….because doing something, might be difficult, over the safety of the American People.

When Obama done his talking points of “No WMD’s” and “No Al Qaeda links in Iraq”

McCain should have said something like “I guess senator Obama thinks that Saddam was going to use that 500 tons of yellow cake uranium(1) for food… and I guess al Zarqawi was just in Iraq (pre war) for vacation(2). Senator Obama’s naive worldview will allow these dictators to walk all over us and put you and you’re family in harm’s way.

He could have also pointed out that the current credit crisis is the direct result of Gov’t Regulation not the lack of it. (3)

If I didn’t know anything about the past records of either candidate, I would say it was a tie at best. From a conservative point of view, I would say McCain barely won.

Hopefully, next week they will take Sarah off the leash and let her be herself, and pound Biden with truth!

1) About that 500 tons of yellow cake

2) Zarqawi in Iraq

3) Flashback to the 1990s: Origins of the Credit Crisis

Obama’s plan would give tax breaks to child molesters! Well?

I’m sure everyone has seen the new Obama TV ad called “Sold Us Out” by now; if not, see below. Well, I tried finding which bill that McCain supported that specifically gave tax breaks only to companies that shipped jobs overseas. I done a Google search, checked roll call, other search engines including yahoo, and votesmart.org. I found no bill that gave tax breaks only to companies shipping jobs overseas or specifically China. The ad does reference three bills (Senate votes 63-2005, 83-2004, 517-1995) which includes McCain’s vote to table the Dorgan Amdt. No. 3110, which was to “Provide for the taxation of income of controlled foreign corporations attributable to imported property”.  From my perspective none of these bills deals directly with giving a tax break to companies shipping jobs overseas; voting against a new tax is not the same as a vote to give a tax break. He did support “Bush’s Tax Cut”, which gave tax breaks to everyone who paid taxes.

So, using that same logic, is it not fair to say that Obama’s plan would give tax breaks to child molesters? Obama’s plan calls for a tax break for those making $250k per year or less, so I’m sure that there are child molesters in that category; along with thieves, drug users, wife beaters, and on and on.

No, I don’t think Obama would give tax breaks specifically to child molesters, nor do I believe John McCain supported tax breaks only to companies shipping jobs overseas.

If we want to stop jobs going overseas then lets ditch all these crazy tax polices of the past, and adopt a flat and fair tax policy! Like (or similar) to that of the fairtax.org plan!

This week’s prize is the new book by Newt
Gingrich Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less

On September 25th, 1775, this American Patriot was captured by
the British after an ill-timed attack on the British-controlled city
of Montreal.  He was imprisoned in England for more than two
years until being returned to the United States on May 6th, 1778, as
part of a prisoner exchange. Following his release, he returned to
his home of Vermont and spent the rest of his life petitioning the
Continental Congress to grant statehood to Vermont. He is probably
better know for his leadership of the “Green Mountain Boys” and his
role in capturing Fort Ticonderoga to which he demanded surrender
from the British commander “in the name of the Great Jehovah and the
