Review: Angel Wars
Grandma recently picked up the new Angel War DVD (The Messengers) for the boys and of course I had to watch it with them:). I must say that I really enjoyed it and think it was a great alternative to The Star Wars Clone War series. Each episode has a faith affirming story and has really good action scenes that kept the boys attention. It can be used as another reaffirming tool to instill courage, honesty, and responsibly into our children without them even knowing it. I highly recommend this series!

This week’s prize is the Book “The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Great Depression and the New Deal”
In April 1805, a major American victory against the Barbary pirates came during the Derna campaign, which was undertaken by U.S. Land Forces in North Africa. Supported by the heavy guns of the USS Argus and the USS Hornet, Marines and Arab mercenaries under William Eaton captured Derna. Lieutenant _________, commanding the Marines, performed so heroically in the battle that Prince Hamet Karamanli presented him with an elaborately designed sword that now serves as the pattern for the swords carried by Marine officers. The phrase “To the Shores of Tripoli,” from the official U.S. Marine Corps Hymn, also has its origins in the Derna campaign. Name the Lieutenant commanding the Marines during this Battle of Derna.

This week’s prize is the Book “Green Hell: How Environmentalists Plan to Ruin Your Life and What You Can Do to Stop Them“
On April 18th, 1775, British General Thomas Gage secretly planned a raid to capture the patriots’ munitions at Concord, Massachusetts and to arrest two political firebrands and rhetoricians, who were reported in the Lexington area. Providentially, Dr. Joseph Warren heard of the general’s plans and sent two riders (Paul Revere and William Dawes) through the countryside that night to sound the alarm. Calling “To Arms! To Arms!” the riders daring mission successfully alerted the patriots at Lexington and Concord. The next morning the Battle of Lexington took place and the ”shot heard round the world” rang out. News crackled like electricity throughout the American colonies, sparking patriotic fervor unseen up to that time. Name the two Patriots (“Political firebrands”) that General Gage was seeking to arrest.
Indianapolis Tea Party – Pictures
I’m not the type of person who likes large crowds or has ever protested anything; but I can see the writing on the wall, and know if the People don’t start speaking up, this country as we know it is done for. So I decided to join a Tea Party Event in Indianapolis this past Wednesday. I’m so gland I did; It was such a relief to know that there still are people out their who understand liberty!

- Benjamin my oldest Son and Myself
This was such a peaceful event, that their were people of all ages: young (2years old) to old World War II vets. Just everyday folks who are concerned about the direction of this country. Evidently there was a code pink person there trying to cause trouble, but we didn’t see her from our view point.
Our favorite Signs!

- Posterboared $1.35, Makers $3.49, The US Consitution PRICELESS

The main speakers were Radio Talk show host Greg Garrison and the Thomas Paine inpersonator Dr Bob Basso, who were just amazing and really got the point across.

And by the Way: There were a whole lot more people there than just 2000 as the media would have you believe! I’m no crowd expert but the whole south lawn was full by the end of the Event. Maybe 100 yards by 100 yards full of People. Approx 30,000 sq ft with maybe 3 to 4 sq ft per person – I’d say there were close to 10,000 people there.
That’s Crazy – Dad

This past Easter at Grandma’s house we did an Easter egg hunt and my eldest son thought I was crazy for the way I suggested we divide up the eggs at the end of the search.
I went to hide the eggs, and then had all the boys go searching. The two oldest boys (8 and 6 years old), went running and looking with intensity, collecting and moving on to the next; the younger boys (4 and 2 years old) would find one and then spend their time opening it and getting the candy. Needless to say the older boys found more.
Once they had found them all, I suggested since Benjamin (the oldest) had found the most and reaped the biggest harvest; that he should be forced taxed at 95% and that I would take all those eggs from him and redistribute them to the younger boys to be fair.
He looked at me with that strange look on his face and said: “That’s crazy -Dad“! So simple an 8 year old can understand – socialism does not work!! There’s no incentive for him to work hard next time around!!
We also did “Resurrection Rolls” that we learned about from the Boyer family blog. It was a great learning aid for the little boys. Check it out for next year.

This week’s prize is the DVD “The Case for Christ” with Lee Strobel
No question this week. Simply read this part of Lee Strobel’s conclusion below from the book “The Case for Easter” and submit your name to be entered into the drawing!
“When Jesus was crucified, his followers were discouraged and depressed. So they Dispersed. The Jesus movement was all but stopped in its tracks. Then, after a short period of time, we see them abandoning their occupations, re-gathering, and committing themselves to spreading a very specific message – that Jesus Christ was the Messiah of God who died on a cross, returned to life, and was seen alive by them. And they were willing to spend the rest of their lives proclaiming this, without any payoff from a human point of view. They faced a life of hardship. They often went without food, slept exposed to the elements, were ridiculed, beaten, imprisoned. And finally, most of them were executed in torturous ways. For What? For good intentions? No, because they were convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that they had seen Jesus Christ alive from the dead. Yes, people will die for their religious convictions if they sincerely believe they are true. Religious fanatics have done that throughout history. While they may strongly believe in the tenets of their religion, however, they don’t know for a fact whether their faith is based on the truth. They simply cannot know for sure. They can only believe. In stark contrast, the disciples were in the unique position to know for a fact whether Jesus had returned from the dead. They saw him, they touched him, they ate with him. They knew he wasn’t a hallucination or a legend. And knowing the truth, they were willing to die for him.” – The Case for Easter by Lee Strobel
Review: The Duggars – 20 and Counting
I loved reading through this book!! It is amazing to see how they have raised this big family without any debt through God’s amazing provisions. It inspired me and encouraged me in my discipline and discipleship of our five children. What a beautiful family and a wonderful inspiration.
