History Challenge 08-24-09 The 1968 DNC
This week’s prize is the book “The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Sixties“
1968 was a tough year for many Americans with the war in Vietnam and the assassinations of both Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F Kennedy. With tensions already high, things got even more out of hand at the Democratic National Convention (August 26th thru the 29th) with a riot breaking out between antiwar protesters and the city’s police department run by mayor Richard J Daley. By the end of the convention over, 668 demonstrators had been arrested and many Americans were stunned by the images of armed conflict in the streets. Name the location of the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
